BWA was formed in 1989 by the present chairman, John Welsh. The new company's objective was to service the Control and Instrumentation industry by supplying skilled and experienced personnel and specialist services such as loop testing and commissioning. John used his 18 years experience as a Divisional Director of a major international contractor, where he was responsible for the development of C&I activities worldwide, to identify and exploit opportunities in this market for the new company.

Growth in the formative years was impressive, with sales reaching GBP 4 million by 1994. A reputation for quality and reliability brought more clients and saw the range of services on offer expand to include Installation, Design Engineering and Automation Software. This brought further success to the business and by 2006 sales of over GBP 11 million were achieved by more than 200 employees all over the world.

BWA is recognised as a leader in the supply of engineered systems worldwide and as specialists in control system upgrades and integration using the most up-to-date technology and quality hardware. The secret of success has been controlled growth achieved by quality staff, working in a high-technology business, where they have provided a complete solution to a number of blue chip clients.
